The start of our lecture was talking about BBC’s Social Media strategy as it was week 1’s recommended reading. To read more about the strategy click here (where I discuss it near the end)
We then began to present our pitch about what Alternative Britain would be. As discussed in week 1’s blog post, Alternative Britain would focus on the different side to Britain. Discussing topics which aren’t considered to be mainstream was our way forward.
The topics would include food & drink, sightseeing, hidden British history, Cosplay etc. We thought it would be a good idea initially to get as many posts as possible onto the website in order to begin driving traffic to us. If everyone blogged about one of the topics, it would give us at least 10 posts that week.
The next step for us is to produce a schedule of who is going to post and when so we don’t end up with everyone posting on the same day. We will also create a schedule for Social Media to ensure someone is on each channel every day.
